I nearly missed capturing this shot overlooking Northwinds Beach. My twin daughters were dozing off in the car's back seat as I drove by, lost in thought. I quickly turned around, parked on the shoulder of Hwy 26, and ran back down the road to take the picture. Photographic opportunities are a blessing; they appear and disappear in a matter of minutes or even seconds. This photo embodies a unique moment in time and space in my community that may never come back again. The beauty of a soft-toned May sunset, the melting of spring ice, and the sight of the first boat on Georgian Bay all come together in this tranquil scene. It's a magnificent sunset, a solitary adventurer, and a fresh beginning all in one.
